Wood is the most common source of framing, at least in the USA. We’ll focus completely on wood house framing on this site because it’s also the easiest to work with for the first time building. If you’re building your own house for the first time I strongly recommend wood because of it’s simplicity, cost effectiveness and forgiveness when you make mistakes. There are, of course, always exceptions to the rule.
